Quick plays: Proun and Battlefield bad company 2

Hey there, I just wanted to do a quick post about some cool stuff I've come across lately, and it's ALL about them games!

1. Proun is game where you race on a cylindric wire, avoiding obstacles and using boosts to win. The game has beautiful yet simple geometry and some "cool vive" jazz music.

As it is an indie project made (over the span of six years) in his free time, Dutch creator Joost van Dongen has released it for the low price of "whatever you want to pay".

I definitely think this is worth a play so check it out.

Recently a friend of mine bought me a copy of Battlefield Bad Company 2 for the PC.
My old-ass machine runs it on super low settings but not so fast & smooth so I've stuck to the single player campaign and these are my reactions:

I know the multiplayer's where the fun's at but at least make it funny or lighthearted: The main characters are serious and bland, the lines that enemies sprout are unappealing and repetitive. I don't feel I am doing any good there, just following lengthy directions in a story I don't believe or care about.

I think a good idea would be to let the player decide if he wants to play the campaign by the story or not and offer a version in which NPC's talk to you, THE PLAYER as people explaining the next section like: "Now you'll face enemies with rocket launchers and a couple of vehicles. Good luck!" and a brief analysis of your performance (time/bullets fired/hits/headshots/...) in between sections, like the "time attack mode" in some arcade games.

With that said, the ability to destroy walls and flank the enemies that way is pretty cool, there are some original missions and the sound of most weapons is rewarding.

I can't wait to play some more SP and possibly MP when my new gig arrives!

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors: SayanPikachu Review

999 is a Mystery-Horror story in which you play as Junpei, a college student who awakes immerse in a deadly game with 8 other people who will struggle through puzzles to find their way out of a fatal trap set up by a mysterious man.

The narrative in this game is grippingly intriguing: the characters are deep and the puzzles are compelling. You get a good feeling of accomplishment without getting stuck too often. The art is simple but looks great and the sound goes along nicely without standing out too much.

On the flip side, you'd miss a text-speed switch to accelerate the never-ending instructions at the very beginning of the story, but that becomes a lesser issue on later stages in the game.

Just Cause 2 Is So Much More Than You Think - Just Cause 2 Mods Compilation

Playing Just Cause 2 Recently (Thanks to Steam's Summer Sale) I was amazed of how fun the game is, nevertheless, the more I played the more I realized that it had some issues: Ammo is scarce, cars are unreliable and the grappling hook is too short. With that in mind, I went online and found justcause2mods.com The official modding site for the game, where they can do THIS.

Just Cause 2 mods are basically small changes made to the game by the community. They don't affect savegames or story and can be played simultaneously with no major problem.

Installing mods for Just Cause 2 is the easiest thing ever:

1. You create a folder called "dropzone" in the game directory:
(Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\just cause 2) or (Program Files\just cause 2)

2. You paste the mods in the "dropzone" folder (or in just cause 2\archives_win32 depending on the mod)

Your PC broke because, let's say, you were trying to install some modified updates for your pirated XP, they did something unexpected and you were stuck without PC for a week. Gerard, who is a very good friend of yours, has a "totally legal" Win 7 license to spare and you invite him to your home, talk about old times, eat pizza and fix your god-damned computer.

Portal 2 Anounced will have co-op Multiplayer

Recent news at Valve! Portal 2 is announced!

Bits of information carefully encrypted by Valve lead to co-op speculation:

On monday this week, Portal was updated with lots of new radio transmitters related secrets and a slight change in the end of the ending. It was thought of as a teaser for Portal 2's incoming announcement and then BANG!

As you may have, many realized that the Portal 2 announcement page on steam had the letters drattmannh0nee underlined on it. Many went through various iterations to discover what was under that (since it has been a week full of "secret" announcements from Valve).The two upper DOS-looking pictures were found so far.

The first Portal was, for me, one of the most compelling game experiences of all year 2008 (Shame on me, I played it a year late) it was original, it was funny, it was scary and it had more personality than any other game in recent memory had.

UPDATE:

-Kotaku has got Spoiler-filled details on Portal 2's story and gameinformer has revealed his april frontpage to be all about Portal 2.

-Confirmed Cooperative Multiplayer and the return of GLaDOS source.

Halo :Reach New Promotional Video "Once More Unto The Breach"

Finally, the first gameplay video footage is here, along with a promotional video.

From the first book in the Halo series, "Halo: The fall of Reach", we know that there was a massive Covenant attack on the military base that was Reach just before the first game "Halo: Combat Evolved" started. We know the planet met no joyful end and for that reason everybody is asking themselves what is this game going to show, knowing we supposedly can't save Reach.

Here you go, I don't know how will they implement sandbox elements into the game or how will the story be affected by that but I am excited.

I didn't like the whole "let's sell the game" vibe of this video but that is the whole point of it, so...

We'll see how it turns out in the end...

'Sup Bitches! How were the exams weeks for you? Who cares? I don't! I've brought some new videos: the first one is a trailer for the upcoming Yakuza3 (Woooot!) and the last one is from Bayonetta but all of them are quite musical, enjoy! ;-)

Yakuza 3 is the most awaited sequel for both Japan and beat 'em up lovers. Sega wants to remind us that it's coming out soon while they demonstrate that this iteration of the franchise won't lack violence, humor or style (three of the most important things in the life of any gamer).

Halo: Reach Shows Team Based Combat And Confirms Perks

New details were announced a week ago about Halo: Reach. Those included a new graphics engine, parts of stealthy gameplay, a darker look for all models and the inclusion of all of Halo3's multiplayer components.

Today, the rumors of the inclusion of perks for the multiplayer component of This prequel have been confirmed by Game Informer magazine: The game features a squad of SPARTANS III and II fighting together and will feature perks (Call of Duty-style ) in the form of switchable armor with different abilities like sprint or temporary invisibility (thanks for the info, Shacknews).

I've recently noticed that people still use "Internet Explorer" as a web browser, wtf?. Anyway, here am I to help you get through that stage of your life, First things first:

What Firefox web browser IS:

-Secure

-Fast

-User friendly

-Customizable

-Cool

What Firefox web browser IS NOT:

-Dependent on a money-making company and it's interests

-Filled up with viruses

-SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW (Viewtiful Joe reference here)

-A constant pain inside your ~~anus~~ mind.

As you are now aware of these truths, here are two tips you'll need to build yourself a nice boat for the ~~shitstorm~~ sea that is the Internet:

1.Download and install Firefox.

--> Latest Firefox available

2. Install the following must-have add-ons (there are plenty more here):

--> Adblock Plus eliminates stupid adds like "loose weight in three minutes" and such (Just remember to click to check one of the regions at the end of the installation for it to work properly).

--> Tab Mix Plus makes your tabs customizable beyond your imagination (Now you can reopen closed tabs, drag them and many more cool stuff).

--> FireGestures enables gestures control with your mouse: press right click and drag left to go back, drag right to go forward, etc

--> Interclue lets you see the future! (it actually enables previsualization before clicking on links).

--> SearchPreview lets you see a small preview image on the left of every Google search result.

--> MushroomKingdom is a cool little skin for your browser to nostalgize you back to your childhood with (a kinda crappy version of) Mushroom Kingdom's characters.

PD: EXTRA!

3. For order purposes, you should probably also download and install:

--> Fences, a program that allows you to separate icons in your deskstop as you wish, in colored semitransparent "boxes", like this:

--> Core Temp Shows you the temperature of your PC's processors, as well as some other info. Minimize it and watch temperature's every move.
